What do you think of Gov. Palin?
Sep 03, 2008 - 05:09 amTonight, the Governor of Alaska goes primetime at the RNC.
Everyone has something to say about Sarah Palin, and maybe that is just why John McCain chose her. After a week of Obama-mania, he at least succeeded in changing the subject.
McCain insists Palin was the right pick for VP because of her politics and her character. No doubt, some Conservatives I know are, for the first time, really excited about the ticket because of Palin’s pro-life and anti-corruption record. A “moderate” buddy who’s been a long-time supporter of McCain was so excited about Palin that he could hardly talk about it without choking up. I’m not kidding.
Some Liberal friends seem eager to talk about Palin’s controversial side: the pregnant teenage daughter, the allegations of abuse of power related to her ex-brother-in-law state trooper, and the reports of big-time pork projects going to the state of Alaska. One friend who adores Obama seemed disappointed the McCain didn’t pick Romney or Huckabee, a sure defeat for McCain in my friend’s opinion.
I was a bit amazed yesterday to learn that the New York Times - the one-time standard of serious journalism in America - had three articles on Tuesday’s front page about 17-year old Bristol Palin, the VP presumptive nominee’s daughter. Seems a bit much, don’t you think?
Still, after spending months blasting Obama over his lack of foreign policy experience, it’s obvious the McCain camp is pursuing a new line of offense by picking a VP candidate who has no foreign policy experience.
