Okay Mrs. Clinton.  What’s next?

Posted On:May 07, 2008

For once, the pollsters were right.
Clinton won Indiana.  Obama won North Carolina.
Now what?
Do you think it’s time for Mrs. Clinton to quit?  Who dreamed anyone would be asking that question?  At one point, she was the heavily favored almost-coronated candidate.
A previous blog based on this same general question got a lot of response.  Most said, no, she should stay in the race.  Many of you commented that she’d earned a shot at the White House and Obama had not.
I’m curious.  Has your opinion changed?  We’ll share some of your opinions on the air.

Thanks!

HELL NO! She shouldn’t quit.  She isn’t a quitter that is why so many people voted for her.  Many of us Democrats cannot bring ourselves to vote for Obama in November.  I am sick of people saying the Reverend Wright incident doesn’t matter, because it does.  At the very least, it shows he has very poor judgement and at the worst shows he is a racist.  He says it isn’t about race and yet he is carrying 92% of the Black vote.  His supporters tried to steal the election in Indiana last night in Lake County.  They were holding the election results until they saw how many he needed.  If several mayors hadn’t gone on TV to say they had turned their results in by 6:30 and that Hillary had won in their towns, the Election Commissioner in Lake County would have squeaked him out a victory there.  As a loyal Democrat, I think we will lose in November, if he is the nominee.

Yes she should quit. There are a few things in the universe which can be considerd to be absolute. One of these being MATH. She cannot conceivably win without a shady back room deal nor can she continue to move the goalposts without running out of endzone. How much longer will she do McCain’s job for him? She has already fooled many people in to thinking she is actually a blue collar citizen. Really? When is the last time she had to go to the grocery store and buy milk? When is the last time she had to stop on the way home from work and fill up her gas tank? If you are as smart as a fifth grader you would realize that for the past 30 years she has lived on our tax dollars. She is worth 108 million dollars and has had people do the thngs for her that average citizens do for themselves everyday i.e.pay bills, buy groceries, clean house, etc. She expects me to believe that she knows what it is like to “live” in America? Phooey!!!

As for the contention that Obama is a racist; well that just takes the cake. I would like for Mr. Chapman to point to one instance in which Obama has indicated that one group of people is superior to another simply because of skin color. It is those types of baseless assertions that have led the GOP to the White House for the past 8 years. Has everyone forgotten the Swift Boat Veterans for Lies? Rev. Wright isn’t running for President. If one chooses to vote for McCain and give George W. Bush four more years simply because guilt by association then so be it.

BTW, I knew it wouldn’t take long for sore losers to start the “election fraud” arguments. For those people, the black helicopters will be arriving soon, with Elvis on board, to transport anyone who believes such crap to the next Illuminati meeting where the secret plan for a one world government will be discussed. She lost fair and square...get over it.

Clinton herself said last night that the most important thing is to have a Democrat elected in November. How one can choose to support her in everything except that is beyond me. It is time to put self interest aside in favor of country. It’s the right thing to do. She fought gallantly but lost. That’s all there is to it.

The math is there; she should pack it in. Too bad, but that’s politics. My choices are now Obama the hoper and McCain, who is expected to continue the Iraq war. Although the war was a bad idea from the beginning and a complete waste of lives and resources, I don’t believe Barack is command-in-chief material. I’ll vote for Ralph.

No, she should not quit. At this point, she is the only candidate that I would vote for.

As a Republican, and one who is re-thinking our party, since we don’t have a true conservative in the race, I think Mrs. Clinton should opt out of the 2008 election since she can’t garner enough delegates mathmatically (unless the super delegates vote her in) for the nomination and run for the 2012 election if that is her goal. The idea of another Clinton in the White House is not anti-Hillary Clinton but more in the theme of governments of Middle Eastern and Latin-American countries who have presidents for life, so to speak. I mean it has been Bush-Clinton-Bush for the past how many elections? And now the possibility of Bush-Clinton_Bush-Clinton. I think as a free nation we need to have more choices in such elections.  I do not think Mrs. Clinton has “earned” a shot at the presidency just because she is the wife of an impeached president and one who has had to endure many of his White House shenannagans. But what do I know. I am sure Mrs. Clinton is a gracious and fine lady, but I am not ready for the first female president yet. No matter who it may be. Give me a little more time to adjust. However, as a Republican, I am saddened that John McCain will most likely loose the 2008 election to whoever the Democratic nominee will be. I believe it is possibly the Bush administration that has caused so many people to dislike and abandon our party. david in abingdon.

I am tired of hearing the Math isn’t there for Hillary to win.  If she stays in the race and even loses the last primaries with percentages in the 40’s, the math isn’t there for Barrack Obama to win either.  No one wins!  Then according to party rules, th superdelegates are to pick by their consience the person they feel would be the best president.  Those party rules do not say the person with the most pledged delegates or with the most CNN news men falling at his feet.  The problem is the rules of the party are screwed up, but they are the rules.  The Obama supporters love to use the rules when they are in their favor (i.e. not counting Michigan and Florida - don’t know how they think we can witn without those states once we tick off those voters in the primary), but they want new rules if the rules don’t favor him (make the superdelegates decide in June- party rules say they have until the convention to decide).  I have to say one more thing about his being a racist.  It is true I have not heard Senator Obama say one group of people is better than another, he does attend a church where there was a racist, bigoted pastor for more that 20 years.  Not only did he attend the church, he married the Senator, baptised his children, gave him advice and was heavily involved in the man’s “spiritual” life.  Attending church there is his business, but to take his small daughters to that church as the Reverend Wright is screaming out the words “nigger” and “God Damn AMERICA”, then saying the only thing Bill Clinton did for Black Americans is the same thing he did for Monica Lewinski (as he is making sexual motions from the pulpit) is racist and disgusting.  You can call it guilt by association, but to me guilt by association, would be that he just knows the pastor.  He is guilty because he sat in the church and participated in it and supported the Reverend right up until he saw it was hurting him in the polls.  I am a lifelong democrat and the party stands for almost everything that I believe in.  McCain is another SATAN like Bush, but I don’t know how on earth I can bring myself to vote for Obama.  The real test will come if Hillary quits and we see how Obama and his supporters treat her and the rest of her supporters.  I guarantee you if they come across with this HAHAHA we won attitude, I will be out the next day campaigning for McCain.

I AGREED I THINK THAT Mrs. Clinton has more experience
as far as trying to run our country. also their a first time for everything. i dont think obamba has what it going to take.

Posted by ( becky ) on May 08, 2008 at 9:23 am

HELLL NO she shouldn’t quit! She’s getting the middle class working votes, majority of white men votes, the women votes, the 65+ votes, and 45% of college votes!
OBAMA CAN’T WIN THE GENERAL ELECTION WITH JUST BLACK AND COLLEGE VOTES.And many of the votes he got before March 2008 (when the Jeremiah Wright, Ayers, Rezko, and the bitter guns and religion remarks came out)are void! If there was a redo in the states he won before this stuff came out, Hillary would win those too!
WE KNOW NOTHING ABOUT THIS MAN, OBAMA!
He’s been pleading the movie stars endorsements only in hopes to get some middle class votes!
He outspent Hillary 4-1 in all the major states needed to win in November...AND SHE STILL WON THEM! Now, what does this say to America???
WE WILL HAVE ANOTHER MCGOVERN ELECTION IN 2008! McGovern only endorsed him hoping to make up for his mistake when he ran! Fool he is!
OBAMA and CARTER told FOX news we didn’t need Mich. and FLA to win, and that Obama could win other “red” states to win the general election. Well, we’ll see. Florida cost Gore the election and can do the same in 08 to Obama!

Posted by ( becky ) on May 08, 2008 at 9:25 am

LOOKS LIKE RALPH NADER WILL BE GETTING MANY OF THE DEMOCRATS THIS YEAR IF OBAMA IS NOMINEE!

Posted by ( vahokie ) on May 08, 2008 at 9:29 am

OBAMA should have won N.C. by 30+% votes. We all knew he would win N.C because of the 30% black population. he only won by 14%, which says Hillary ran one heck of a campaign down there and did a great job!
N.C is not a “brag” for Obama because he should have been able to do much better than that. His bitter remarks about guns and religion have come home to roost!

So Jamie Chapman of Chuckey believes in the super delagates?  I think super delegates are a sham. The pledged delegates of a nominee is the result of the voting populace. The nominee who wins the popular vote in the primaries of the state and therefore gets those state delegates. To put everything in the hands of super delegates slaps the faces of the voting population. In other words, super delegates can “fix” the nomination no matter what the voters want.  Of course being an old timer, I think elections should be on the popular vote alone.  Whoever has the most votes wins, pure and simple.  No equations or solutions, just plain old votes.  Do away with the electoral college, delegates and the like.  And quite honestly, do any political candidates really give a damn about the people of America?  Only a small handful, maybe. How many of them would actually reach into their OWN pockets and give a homeless person a few bucks for a meal unless it was a photo op? In the end, it is all about the power and money. Frankly, I am sick of the whole process but it is all we have.  Every legal citizen in this country should vote in the presidential election if for nothing else to express our gratitude to all of the fallen soldiers who have given their lives so that we may remain a free nation.

I don’t think any of you all look at the entire picture. Neither candidate in the democratic party has enough support to win the election.  They have caused so much division within the party.  Do you really want another Clinton in the white house. Seems like she has always been the one to wear the pants in that relationship.  You can’t tell me with a name like Obama that you all really believe he is black.  His name has MUSLIM written all over it (and his middle name is Huessin, Just a coincedence???).  Not saying all of them are bad or anything but if the shoe fits ( or maybe has a bomb in it).  I’m not taking up for McCain either, I don’t agree with Bush’s decisions about war but our interest in oil in the middle eastern countries has to be protected.  If you complain about prices now what do you think they would be if a dictator like Sadaam had complete control over all the oil we get from Iraq.  All you have to do is read the Bible to see that the world don’t have much longer.  Much as we’d all like to change to things don’t think there’s much chance in that happening.  All I can say is HUCKABEE.

Posted by ( Jamie Chapman ) on May 09, 2008 at 8:30 am

For David Patton of Abingdon, you must be a republican because you put quite a spin on what I said.  As a matter of fact, I do not support having superdelegates.  I support counting ALL the people who voted, which would include Michigan and Florida.  The OBAMA camp say you have to follow the rules and whether we like it OR NOT, the rules give those superdelegates a vote and it isnt’ a vote to vote the way their district or state voted (which obama supporters use only if it is to his advantage, Example: Massachussetts went to Clinton, but Kennedy, Patrick and Kerry all are voting their conscience for Obama) Unfortunately, this country wasn’t founded as a true democracy, no matter how many times you hear that.  We were founded as a Democratic republic, because the founding fathers didn’t trust the population at large to elect the President directly, that is the reason we have the electoral college.

I think Clinton shoud keep up the good fight.  She is going to win.  We really need her and not Obama who we know nothing about.  He talks a good talk and says nothing.  For 20 years he stood beside a man that seems to hate Amercia and White people and has the gaal to say he is a minsiter of the gospel.  What kind of person is that.  Jesus Christ did not teach us that type of ministry.  He taught love, kindness and sacrfice.

Another thing about Obama, he is playing the black card when he is just as much white has black. He mother is/was white.  He doesn’t mention that.  Is he ashamed of being half white?  I think you should be proud of whatever race you are.  That’s how God Created you.  Most importantI think a person should be honest and forthcoming with what they beleive and stand for. Mr. Obama doesn’t have the experience.  Look at Chicago where he served they are having major problems with youth and crime.  Crime is really out of control when a child can’t walk home from school with out getting shot down.  What did he accomplish in Chicago?  It sure wasn’t an end to drive by shootings in Chicago.  To add my personal feelings about the man I don’t know him and I don’t trust him.  God Bless us all...in this time of confusion.  Go Clinton… First Woman President… Good Leader who loves America and all the People!

Chris,,once again my friend,,, you are right on target,,,bullseye! back in arkansas as first lady she was having the state troopers doing her shopping and stuff for her. not until a threat of an investigation did she stop.when Chelsea was born hillary hired a woman as a nanny and put her on the state payroll as a security guard.to quote from the book “the case against hillary clinton”,,,, “she is so famous,so celebrated for her accomplishments;as she so quickly and eagerly refers to them. and yet when you look at the record, her reputation for accomplishments seem to be just pure fiction."all you hillary lovers go check out her voting record. she voted against making english the official language of the united states, she voted for just one murder charge for the murder of a pregnant woman as far along as 8 months. to top it off,,check out her record on healthcare,,she missed the last 5 or 6 votes on healthcare. but she’s your candidate! SO TELL US WHAT IS HILLARY’S EXPERIENCE AND ACCOMPLISHMENTS? i’m not enthused about any of the candidates,,but damn sure not hillary!

Jamie,

It is Hillary who is changing the rules. She is the one who said Michigan and Florida “won’t matter for anything” and then changed her story when she started to lose. You sir, are misinformed. All you have to judge Obama is 6 minutes of a video on YouTube to make your judgement. Why is it that you have failed to explain how you know what Wright has preached for the last 20 years? Were you there? How do you know Obama was there each Sunday and was cheering wildly when controversial statements were made? What Wright said on those videos was ludicrous but not racist sir. I challenge you to prove it was. You assume that over the past 20 years Wright gave these kinds of sermons each Sunday and Obama was there agreeing. You have no proof nor does Hannity or O’Reilly. If they did we would have seen it by now. All you got and all they got is 6 minutes of YouTube video. Pitiful. Just because Wright married the two and baptized his children does not mean they sit each Sunday and talk bad about America together or share the same sociological ideology. Your inference that it does is based on assumptions, therefore it is invalid. I don’t ascribe beliefs to one person based on the words of another. If I did I would assume like you that each and every person who has attended Falwell’s church in the past 20 years believes everything that came out of his mouth. That is baseless and for you to continue to propogate this type of drivel is beyond reproach. If you are so in agreemtn with guilt by association how do you rationalzie the eyebrow rasing associations Hillary has had over the last 30 years? I guess in your book you can define Obama by his associations but not HIllary. BTW, I hope you won’t have to campaign for SATAN if Obama merely rubs it in that he won and Obama now has a superdelegate lead. If one candidate holds the popular vote lead and the pledged delegate lead the Superdelegates are bound to support that candidate. Sorry, that’s just the way it is. Your candidate lost, get over it.

Jennifer,
You wrote this: “You can’t tell me with a name like Obama that you all really believe he is black.  His name has MUSLIM written all over it (and his middle name is Huessin, Just a coincedence???).  Not saying all of them are bad or anything but if the shoe fits ( or maybe has a bomb in it)”

Your use of a classic Non Sequitar is appalling in this instance. Are you saying that one can determine the religious beliefs of another simply by their name? Or are you saying that Muslims cannot be black or vice versa? Either way your statement is frankly bigoted. You should be ashamed. I hope you are not in the business of casting aspersions about others based on ignorance and silly e-mails. Look, the name Obama and Hussein are common middle eastern and sub-saharan African names. The are not in any way indicative of ones religious ideology. I guess one has to be lilly white faced with a European surname to be considered non muslim in your book.

Quite frankly, your statements lead me to believe that at worst you are a Eugenisist and at best simply uneducated about different cultures and races. There are multitudes of people in Iraq, Lebanon, and Africa who have those names and are Christian. Obama was raised by his white christian grandparents and white christian mother. His grandfather is a WWII veteran. His father was from Kenya and left him at a young age. That’s it. Now tell me, how exactly does that prove him to be a Muslim? The fact is that he is a CHRISTIAN. Your attempt to portray Obama as a Islamic Terrorist because of his name is pitiful. It just shows a lack of knowledge, education or experience. That is the definition of ignorance madam. I used to have confidence in our countries educational system until I read your post and quite frankly I am taken by surprise that no one else has taken you to task for such ridiculous statements.

Posted by ( Erin ) on May 13, 2008 at 9:56 am

Chris--

I think the reason no one else has taken Jennifer to task may be that like me, they are just plain speechless.  Thanks for your words, I myself am left just shaking my head in disbelief, saying, “What?!!?!?!”

I’m off to search for basic logic cirriculum to teach my children at home.  Sometimes reading these posts really scares me.

Posted by ( jennifer ) on May 14, 2008 at 8:11 am

Chris and Erin,
First off let me apologize if I offended you.  My feelings are not toward any blacks or muslims, they are directly toward Obama.  I REALLY dislike the man.  I’m not sure how he could have set under a pastor like Wright, with all of his bigoted ideas and have any kind of American sentiment.  When you listen to things long enough you start believing them, he may not show it on the outside but somewhere inside of him I believe that he has the same racist ideas towards whites that Wright expresses.  Something about him makes me very sick to know that he could possibly lead our country.  Thank God that we have a system of checks and balances in our government.  Once again I am sorry to anyone that may have been offended. Let me say once again my feelings are not toward any other race or nationality but towards Obama.  And let me say my feelings toward Clinton and McCain aren’t much different.  You’d think with all the people in this country there would have to be someone more qualified to run for pres.

Time for the Hill to leave. I am so sick of the Clintons! Now it is reported Bill is trying to figure out how to get his daughter into the White House in the future...they simply believe they deserve it. One thing..have we all forgotten what President Bill Clinton did in the white house with that girl? Have we forgotten how poor Bill bites his lip and looks into the camera, shaking his finger at us telling us he didn’t have a relationship with her..that lying SOB!!!!  And his wife can’t even raise enough money to run a campaign..she has to use her own money and is in debt big time..you bet, that is who we want running this country. Forget it Hill..this is not your destiny!
