It’s “ShowTime” at Fun Fest
Jul 11, 2008
Sorry for the blurry picture. It was my best cell phone camera effort around 9:15 p.m . Thursday - SOOO past my bedtime.
This Sunday, Monday, and Tuesday, I’ll be the emcee of “ShowTime 2008”, the musical variety show that’s a 21 year Fun Fest tradition.
Before last night’s dress rehearsal, I’d never seen a “ShowTime”. Family and friends have raved about it. “These people are amazing,” was one of the comments I heard.
That could not be more true.
120 plus castmembers act more like family members by practicing for weeks and weeks to sing great songs and memorize snappy dance moves. “ShowTime” is about Kingsport and the Tri-Cities Region and all that makes this place great.
I left the Eastman Employee Center around 9:45 p.m. amazed at the positive attitudes and enthusiasm by the army of people I’d just met -people STILL in the building reheasing their songs, singing and laughing and having a great time.
Try to make it to “ShowTime” if you can. The shows at the Eastman Employee Center in Kingsport will be Sunday at 4 p.m. and Monday and Tuesday at 7 p.m..

Today, Mr. Rob Williams turns 40. Behind the scenes on the Morning Edition, it’s been a day of celebration. Hey - it’s Robbie! He’s the best.
The picture above is one of the photos sent to me by Rob’s sister Angie who holds a treasure trove of blackmail photos.
Send your birthday greetings here on the Morning Edition blog.
Thanks!
You have to see this: a face in the tree?

I saw this today during my scan of news around the region.
A man in Maryville, Tennessee found this unusual sight while on the job in a cemetery near Knoxville, Tennessee. Here’s the story from the Associated Press.
---
MARYVILLE, Tenn. (AP) - A sawed off tree limb at a Maryville
cemetery turned out to have a mysterious image.
The short log has a cut end bearing an uncanny resemblance to a
human face.
Ernest Ward, a groundskeeper at Magnolia Cemetery, said it was
found Monday as he and co-workers cleaned up debris from a weekend
storm.
He said a former worker at the cemetery believes the face is a
spirit.
“Who he is, I don’t know,” Ward said.
(end story)
----
Thanks to The Daily Times.Com in Maryville for use of the picture.
The good news here - no religious pilgrimages are in the plans.

Reaction to Rush: So far, not a lot of love

Sometimes, reaction to blog topics really surprises me.
After the post about Rush Limbaugh’s big new pay raise, the reaction to Rush was harsh. Very harsh.
Both blog posters REALLY don’t like him.
Any Rush lovers out there? Past elections have proven this to be a conservative area, and Rush gets great ratings on the local talk station.
