Hazardous Crocs?

Posted On:Apr 24, 2008

We did a story last night about trade ministry leaders in Japan complaining about Crocs.  Evidently, the trade ministry received 65 complaints of Crocs wearers (and similar shoes) getting stuck in elevators.  The people at Crocs say (and the folks in Japan neglected to mention), is that the Japanese government has asked the escalator industry to improve awareness of safety issues.

I guess that means they need to post those “escalator guidelines” at the entrance of the escalators like we see here in the states.  So, maybe people who ride escalators in Japan need to be taught how to pick up their feet when they step off the escalator!

For some reason, I found this story amusing.

I own a few different styles of Crocs, and I find them rather comfy.

Do you wear Crocs?

No, I do not wear them and I #1 think they are ugly and #2 they are a safty hazard to anyone who wears them.

Yes, I wear the crocs. I have never had any problem out of them being a “safety hazard”. I guess if people would learn how to pick up their feet and walk we wouldn’t have this problem. I think they are really comfortable. I guess everyone has their opinions of the so called “ugly crocs”

I wear them even tho they are hideous.  I only wear them around my home tho.  The most public place I’ll wear them is to the Dumpster to take out the trash.

They are soooo comfortable, and easy to slip on to take out the dog or whatever.  Lightweight so if you go hiking or camping they are easy to pack, and they rinse off easily.

I have heard that they are dangerous and I can see how they could get caught in escalators.

The newer styles definately aren’t as ugly as the original chunky lumps of pure uggo (can you tell I think these shoes are ugly?).

The comfort of these shoes almost makes up for the way they look.  I like my kids to wear them because I think they are better on their feet since they let their feet be in their natural position and they walk more naturally in them.  Except of course when they kick them off and trip over them.
