Anniversary of the Virginia Tech Massacre
Posted On:Apr 16, 2008
Today we devoted a lot of our news time to the one-year anniversary of the shootings at Virginia Tech.
Some people there are struggling for some sort of normalcy, though their lives are changed forever. I admire the strength of the faculty, staff, students and community for trying to continue with their lives, yet never forgetting the tragedy that took so many from the campus family.

This tragedy really took me back to all the occurences we have endured in regards to school shooting similar to Columbine and so many other areas in our country that have had this horrific experience.I pray everyday my husband and children are safe.My husband has taught in this area fo rover 20 years and he never takes one day for granite and always tries to use these unfortunate occurences as an education oppurtunity to possibly try to reach the lost or reassure the non-lost children within his class.
On a lighter note the Cafe Mom Tricities group information you requested...http://www.cafemom.com/
There are numerous groups to join, such as faith based, activities, etc.I personally joined the group with Mom’s of children born in 2002,and the group for Mom’s of teens and preteens.I really enjoy chatting with local Mom’s and also sharing ideas and stories with Mom’s that have children the age of my own!I work full time and my husband and I stay active in the community within our children participating in community based sports, etc. It is quite refreshing to sit down and “talk"with other women with similiar lifestyles. These days it takes structured activities, and unfortunately even free time with the children mainly of the fact that things have changed inrecent times and this choice is all that is left to keep our kids safe and happy.Regretfully times have changed so much since my hubby and I were young,we could ride our bikes to the store or walk to a neighbors house. But with the new age of living and computer technology it has really brought so much “adverse"inforamtion to certain indidviduals who just do not abide or prefer not to adhere to conservative families. It has created an unsafe environment, even in your own neigborhood.
We live in a gorgeous part of the county adjacent to a beautiful park and it is a constant battle it seems to keep it family oriented and conservative.
