Annoying Allergies

Mar 31, 2008

It’s that time of year to start thinking about allergies (if you haven’t already).

Allergies affect so many people here in the Tri-Cities region.  In fact, the Asthma and Allergy Foundation of America ranks Johnson City, TN 57th in the nation for “most challenging places to live with fall allergies (their most recent ranking)”.  Johnson City also ranks 17th in the nation for “most challenging places to live with asthma.” Go to http://www.aafa.org for more information.

The runny nose, watery eyes and sneezing so much you think your brain will shoot out your ears.

WebMD.com is a GREAT source for information on allergies, whether they are indoor, outdoor, food, etc.  They also have a page that lists some common types of allergy medications, and how they work.

Have your allergies started to bother you yet?

Basketball Blues

Mar 29, 2008

March Madness is fun…until it prolongs my workday.

Don’t get me wrong…I like basketball.  I just get antsy when we have to begin our newscast after 12:20am!!!!  Sometimes I wonder, “Is anybody out there watching at this late hour?”

I hope you do. We still have great stories that affect people here in the Tri-Cities no matter what time of day (or night!)!

Have a wonderful weekend, and try to dodge the raindrops!

Wellmont vs. Mountain States Health Alliance

Mar 26, 2008

Okay, so we’ve all seen the headlines about the latest round between MSHA and Wellmont.  Here at the station, we’ve gotten some mixed reaction about their latest run-in.

What do you think about continuing drama between the two health systems?  Do you prefer one over the other, or does your insurance dictate where you go?  Do you even care anymore?

Let’s hear it!

Easter Fun!

Mar 24, 2008

Okay, now that Easter is over, I want to hear all about it.

What are some of your Easter traditions?  Do you hunt for eggs?  Go to sunrise service?  Share your stories!

Happy Easter!

Mar 21, 2008

Since this is Good Friday, I thought I’d start Easter weekend off with a variety of Easter-themed quotes.  Have a wonderful weekend!

He is risen; he is not here.
Bible: Mark, 16. 6

Easter is a time of love,
A time of death and pain undone,
So we may know the power of
The love that lives in everyone.
Each love we feel, unstained and free,
Redeems us--as with you and me.
-Poemsforfree.com

For I remember it is Easter morn,
And life and love and peace are all new born.  ~Alice Freeman Palmer

All I really need is love, but a little chocolate now and then doesn’t hurt!
Lucy Van Pelt in Peanuts by Charles M. Schulz

Easter is the demonstration of God that life is essentially spiritual and timeless.
Charles M. Crowe

Forget love-- I’d rather fall in chocolate!!!
Author unknown

He is not here: for he is risen, as he said. Come, see the place where the Lord lay. And go quickly, and tell his disciples that he is risen from the dead; and, behold, he goeth before you into Galilee; there shall ye see him: lo, I have told you. And they departed quickly from the sepulchre with fear and great joy; and did run to bring his disciples word. And as they went to tell his disciples, behold, Jesus met them, saying, All hail. And they came and held him by the feet, and worshipped him. Then said Jesus unto them, Be not afraid: go tell my brethren that they go into Galilee, and there shall they see me.
Bible: Matthew, 28. 6

If Easter says anything to us today, it says this: You can put truth in a grave, but it won’t stay there. You can nail it to a cross, wrap it in winding sheets and shut it up in a tomb, but it will rise!
Clarence W. Hall

There’s nothing better than a good friend, except a good friend with CHOCOLATE.
