I think we’re all over the Obama/rock star comparisons, McCain. Everyone, that is, except your ad execs. Fire them. Your campaign should be a reflection of YOU. As much as I disagree with many of his policies, he nevertheless has plenty of achievements to be touted. Quit dancing around and do it.
The conservative talking heads have it right – this election (please, oh, please) is going to go with the candidate who has the best plan for making our country energy-independent. Our future depends on it, period. So far, neither candidate has stepped up to the plate with a doable plan. The only thing worse than having the candidate other than your own win the election would be having ANY candidate elected who didn’t have a viable plan for energy independence. Putting that off for another four years (or eight) would be disasterous.

dadw5boys: “We have to cut off the Republican incentive that actually pay American Business to move overseas. We still don’t know of all the hidden things that are in laws past by the Republicans.”
Who has been in control of congress for two years? Polosi and Reed are not Republicans. By the way, the latest polls shows Bush approval 32%, the Democratic Congress 16%.

dadw5boys---here are two of your sentences,,,,,Won’t stopping the tax cuts on big oil profits and redirecting into renewable engery sources help the USA?
How are we going to keep jobs here?
you keep the jobs here by keeping taxes low, duh, less taxes,,more jobs,,,they don’t have to move overseas if the taxes are kept low. we have the 2nd highest corporate tax rate in the world behind japan!

Well, dadW you are correct in a way but how many years have we heard the phrase “we need to reclaim our country” when refering to our elected officials truly representing the majority. That of course will never happen anytime soon and here is why in my opinion.
When Jimmy Carter was President he had several great ideas on how to address the energy problems the U.S. would face in the future. The problem was he didn’t have the support on his own political Democratic party to accomplish anything, he couldn’t even pass the time of day. The point is, reguardless of who becomes President nothing will ever change unless our elected representatives stop being party politicians and become representatives of the people. We the voting public must get our heads out of the political party sand box and elect people to Congress, Senate and yes President that will enforce the will of the people. We need to stop this stupid Republican, Democratic party bickering and get serious about our future here at home and the world. I’m amazed that people still go to the polls and cast their vote for a party, instead of a person. They will cast their vote for someone they know very little to nothing about, other than what someone told them or a slanted commercial on T.V.. The majority of people would vote for Mr.Trey Stump as long as he was running on their party ticket. Oh! I’ve ticked off those of you wearing your political party blinders, so you can start critizing my opinion now.

Did I miss something here. Won’t stopping the tax cuts on big oil profits and redirecting into renewable engery sources help the USA?
We have bigger problems than engery independence too. The Interest alone on the U.S. National Debt is staggering. How wil we even begin to pay that debt down? How are we going to keep jobs here?
We have to cut off the Republican incentive that actually pay American Business to move overseas. We still don’t know of all the hidden things that are in laws past by the Republicans. Remember they would not even allow debate or give the Democrates the full bills to read a couple of years ago. These were bills written by Think Tanks and Lobbyist.
So it is not all about oil. It is about reclaiming our Country and the Constitution!

Jody, do you remember what it felt like to learn for the first time that there was no Santa Claws, Tooth Fairy or Easter Bunny? Well, I want to inform you that there are no Saints in politics. No Saints can be found in Washington D.C. neither in the White House, Congress or the Senate. There are no Saints at the State levels of government either that I’m aware of. If we could look into the past lives of every politician, both past and future, we might be shocked. If every politician hung their clothes on the clothes line for all to see we all might be flabergasted at what we would see. We might say to ourselves,"is that grandma’s skimpy nighties hanging there”? or “I had no idea that grandad wore spandx longjohns”.
If we as a society looked for a candidate that had no dirty laundry then the White House, Congress and the Senate would stay vacant. We need to look beyond ones little imperfections, personal and private lives (although there are some exceptions of course) and try to choose a team of potential leaders that can pull the United States up by the hair of the head from this disasterous mess we have gotten ourselves into the last few years. Jesus already has a job bigger than anything we can offer him and Mother Treasa is dead and I’m don’t know anyone carring a bag of magic dust or has a miracle in his or her pocket. If anyone out there knows of a person without any dirty laundry to run this Nation speak up, we are running out of time here.

Jody,
I really do not think that McCain can quit comparing Obama to a rockstar and focus his campaign on himself. If he were to do that then the public would see how aligned McCain is with Bush. He is a maverick no more. He has done a complete 180 compared to the campaign he ran several years ago.
As far as the John Edwards thing goes. I really don’t see why the press keeps going over and over it. It is not like he is a candidate or he had a chance at being VP. He was being vetted, and I am sure that Obama’s campaign wouldn’t have picked him because of the speculation surrounding him. I was a diehard Edwards supporter until he dropped out of the race. I just do not understand the fascination with him having an affair.
Like I said, he is not running. McCain is running and he cheated on his first wife many times after she became crippled in an accident. He was still married to her when he hooked up with Cindy. How is that for class? That is the only reason McCain will not jump all over the Edwards story. McCain and his “family values” my foot.

In other words, just more of the usual.
