Got Gas?

Posted On:Apr 23, 2008

$5 a gallon isn’t minor.  Especially for folks like me who spend a lot of time on the road.  But a car is not something we can do without.  We may slow down on the highway to save gas (I have).  We can try to consolidate short trips from 3 or 4 into one.  (I have) We can carpool when possible (for many like myself, that just isn’t practical or, often, possible).  We might try coasting to a stop when reasonable and not punching the gas, but instead building speed gradually (I’m working on it.)

But these are minor actions that do not do a whole lot to help this major problem.  It’s like bailing water out of your sinking boat with a teaspoon.  It’s better than nothing, but not by much.

The result of the high gas prices can only be the reflection of the people in control of the Global Government, that includes the American Government as well. It appears to me, the powerful elite are making moves to bring the world into economic and religious control under the banner of a new world order. In doing so, they are killing the middle class and the poor. From labor, gas, and rising food cost, most of us who are not in position of wealthy are feeling the crunch. President Bush declared throughout his presidency “the economy is in good shape.” It is apparent we have been lied to. The economy is crashing and there is no safety net. My personal opinion is, things are about to get alot worse. When the Globals say we are in recession, we are actual heading for depression. It is time for every individual to wake up. The powers that be in the Global Government have stepped on our Constitution, and our rights. We are living in a police state, where our food, labor, speech, and all we do are comming under control. We are on the edge of 1984 (George Orwell).

could you just tell me what rights of yours is being stepped on? your right to food, labor, and speech? your right to speech has not been stepped on.seems to me that you are in the ideology of the government owes you everything. no one owes you a job or food. there is a thing called personal responsibility. take a hard look at it. but please respond and answer my question.

Davis, While the economy is not in good shape, it is rather alarmist (to put it mildly) at this point to say we are heading for a “crash” or that we are in a “depression”.  Talk to an elderly person who was alive in the 30s.  They will be glad to explain to you what a depression is.

Could you please identify for me who makes up this “Global Government” you speak of?  Since you refer often to their power and to what they “say”, I assume you have some names for us.  I would like to know who they are, please.

And by the way, if this “global government” is, indeed, taking over our food, labor and speech, they are doing a pretty lousy job.

Now you have both Robert and myself looking for more explanation for your remarks.  I eagerly await your reply.

Thanks,
Jody

I can’t understand it either.  Fuel prices simply irk me each time I step across the threshold of my house to go get in my vehicle and head to work.  It seems that fuel has skyrocketed namely since Katrina came through.

Economy heading for a depression...??  I think we are a far cry from a depression....recession yes....depression, I don’t think so.  The fuel price itself is depressing enough.

I agree with Jody...the fuel prices are our own fault due to our election decisions.  Remember that when you head to the polls this November.  Does a single politician have a “fix”...??....no....rather, we have to do something about it and cut our dependence on our own.

Untill then....forego the vacation and buy some gas!!

Fuel prices are not entirely the fault of the people we elected. It has never been a secret that oil is a non-renewable resource and that we will eventually run out of it. It isn’t even the fault of automakers who have failed to produce viable alternatives; they make what the public wants, and for decades the public has wanted larger, more powerful and less fuel-efficient cars. The public didn’t want electric cars or pokey 4-cylinder affairs, they want 10 passenger SUV’s to drive around alone in, massive 4-wheel drive affairs that never see a speck of mud. We buy our children V8 sports cars built for speeds disallowed by law that boast a whopping 16mpg. Average fuel economy has actually DROPPED in the last 20 years, not improved. We have come up with more efficient engines and lighter, more aerodynamic bodies, but we put them on larger frames with ever more powerful engines. Instead of a more efficient 100hp car, we built 300hp cars with the same ( or worse ) consumption. I say ‘we’ because automakers, like any business, sell what people buy. It is our choices as consumers that drive the industry. We have built a culture of the automobile, ignoring the darkness at the end of the tunnel; our poor relations with Venezuela and the Chinese market opening up hasn’t helped a bit. It is only now that the cost of all this has risen dramatically ( although the Europeans have been paying more than twice as much as we do at the pump for a long time ) that most of us are taking note of it.

As Jody said it is our own fault that we are facing this mess, but not only because we are not electing people who are passionate about a solution ( we actually DID elect Al Gore, but for some reason he never made it to the White House? ), but because for decades we have ignored the reality that gasoline will not last forever. We need to force a change, by educating our children about conservation, by influencing automakers to produce efficient, affordable electric cars and then buying them, by electing politicians who will work for a change and encourage research towards that end.

Don’t look for fuel prices to fall, or some way to pass this impending disaster on to the next generation. Increasing drilling and refinery capacities are like upping the morphine on a terminal patient. What we need is a cure, and it will be an uncomfortable, bitter pill for the gargantuan petrol infrastructure to swallow.

Looks like Davis of Elizabethton has left the building. We were really looking forward to you defending your comments.

What is Normal Earth Temperature?
There is definite evidence that our planet once presented a warm subtropical climate from pole to pole. Corals, which grow only in warm waters (of at least 20 degrees Centigrade) once grew near the poles. Canada, Alaska, Newfoundland, Greenland and Spitzbergen contain fossil coral.
Coal seams are also found near the poles. The vast coal beds are simply fossilized remains of trees and plants. Redwood forests are found buried under massive ice deposits. These towering giants (now typically found in the north-west of the U.S.A.) once flourished in many diverse parts of the world, as evidenced by many coal and fossil finds. The remains of animals now confined to warm regions are also found all over the earth.
There is but one climate known to the ancient world as revealed by the plants, fossils and ancient legends. The climate was a mantle of spring like loveliness that seems to have prevailed continuously over the whole globe in the recent geologic past.
When nearly the same plants are found in Greenland and Guinea; when the same species now extinct, are met with equal development at the equator as at the pole and the people of the Earth have drawings and legends about diverse animal populations, we cannot but admit that the temperature of the globe was nearly alike everywhere.
Overall, the climate of Planet Earth was mild and spring like, perfect from pole to pole.

Maybe Davis said all he needed too. I agree defending this Commander and Thief makes no sense. Take a good look your military has been politizied for private profit. Remember the CIA put Sadam in office along with many other dictators around the world.

How do you defend NOT collecting the Royalities on the OIL, GAS, COAL, GOLD AND OTHER NATURAL RESOURCES TAKEN FROM FEDERAL LANDS. Those Natural Resources belong to the American People!!! Not the business aho got a license to mine them!!!!

The taxes and royalities are there to make sure that when goes to use those recources they make every effort the extract them efficently and not waste one ounce if possilbe. Because once they are taken they are destroyed basically.

The royalties serve to provide research to devolpe new resources, technology, and possible recycling research to reclaim watsed resources.
But apparently personal responsibility does not apply to these criminals in the Whitehouse who even broke the laws and created a salmond fish kill by diverting water to farmers and now the public has to spend 10 to 20 million dollars and 10 years to repair the damage Cheny did Illegally.
Personally responsibility???

Apparently neither of you have seen this ExCops evidence that the position our country is in now has been planned.

I would also suggest you read “ The Confessions of an Ecomonic Hitman”
and improve your understanding of how U.S. businesses subjects the citizens of poor nations to corruptions and outright theif of their natural resources in the Name of the American People!
Here is a great sight where even the most arrgoant right winger can begin to understand.
