Free Health Insurance – As Close As The Nearest Voting Booth
Sep 24, 2007As we all know, however, there is no such thing as a free lunch, and no such thing as free health insurance.
But what a fabulously dazzling way to win votes! “Dazzling” being the key word…
Armed and Dangerous - & Headed for School
Sep 20, 2007What is more frightening than the idea of a gun – or any dangerous weapon for that matter – in the hallways of our schools?
Hats off to whoever it was who originally tipped off the Hawkins County School official that an armed student might be headed toward a local school this morning.

In the meantime, let’s talk about what can be done to prevent this kind of terrifying situation from happening – IF, that is, anything more CAN be done.
Lottery Dumbs Us ALL Down
Sep 20, 2007I was no fan of the Tennessee Lottery when it was first up for discussion. My biggest issue was that putting the government – ANY government – in charge of a game of chance was ridiculous. The government has enough trouble keeping up with what it constitutionally SUPPOSED to be in charge of. It was not designed to run a business like the lottery.
Here’s some irony – the government was not intended to run the school system either, but it does. And now we have the government-run lottery funding the government-run schools.
Is anyone surprised at the chaos?
Inside Fred’s Head
Sep 06, 2007Fred Thompson. I never watched his tv show. I have seen him in a few movies. As far as his acting goes, though, the role I most remember him for is playing Roseanne’s boss at Wellman Plant on her tv series.
His character was a real ***head. He played it well.
Fred in politics is another matter. You have to figure, though, that if Reagan could rise above his mediocre acting in B-movies, anything is possible.
Fred was a decent senator, and I was just about to let ENTERTAINER FRED die for good and give POLITICIAN FRED my attention and consideration. Then what does he do but pull a stunt like this one -
Fat Chance
Sep 06, 2007If I hear one more person refer to obesity as a disease, I am going to throw down my Little Debbie Swiss Roll and scream!!
Obesity - with a very few medical exceptions - is a lifestyle choice, not a disease. Why is that so hard for so many people to wrap their heads around? And how much of our tax money is the government going to spend trying to find a way to prevent and treat obesity before they accept what we all already know:
There is only ONE way. Eat less fatty food. Exercise more.
I’m sorry, am I going too fast? EAT - LESS - FATTY - FOOD. EXERCISE - MORE.
Let’s take a look at the latest attempts to prolong the denial by the state of Tennessee:
