El Al – The Gold Standard of Terror-Free Airlines

Dec 29, 2009 - 01:12 pm

(“El Al” – Hebrew for “to the skies”)

I watched an interview this morning with the former head of El Al air lines.  The topic was, of course, why what happened on Christmas day would never have happened on an Israeli airliner.

What happened was unthinkable – yet another terrorist boards an America-bound plane with explosives on his person.

If not for a quick-thinking passenger, the terrorists would have succeeded in his goal.  So much for airline security.

Naturally our first order of business should be coming up with a suspect list that is actually COMPLETE and SHARED WITH ALL AGENCIES CONCERNED, and that officials actually READ.  For goodness sake, this terrorist-wanna-be’s dad TOLD US what his son had planned and he STILL got away with it.  No excuse.

Healthcare Reform & the Need for Speed

Dec 20, 2009 - 02:12 pm

I am more than a little at sea when trying to understand why everyone is not as concerned as I am about the health care proposal being presented this week by Harry Reid and team.  What strikes me is not the proposal itself – how can I be upset about something I know nothing about?

But it is THAT fact – it’s secrecy – that alarms me; the whole “But there’s no TIME to read it” attitude.  And it is THAT with which I struggle, in an attempt to understand how anyone can NOT be alarmed, given the circumstances.

The Conservative Stereotype

Dec 13, 2009 - 01:12 pm

Stereotyping makes life easier.  It makes thinking easier.

Many liberals – especially extremists – are drawn in by the ease of stereotyping conservatives.  It is when that stereotype is challenged that their whole thought process is forced to change and adapt.

They hate that.

Do not think that the irony of above comments is lost on me.  I realize that in making these assertions, I am stereotyping.  That is why I deliberate used the word “many” in front of “liberals”.  I know it is not all of them.

But let’s look at the ones that are in positions of power right now – they are for the most part (there’s that disclaimer again) extremists.  And pigeonholing conservatives into one of three stereotypes is their habit.

Obama and the State Of Denial

Dec 08, 2009 - 12:12 am

Just like that, Obama has disregarded the scandal over the manipulation of global-warming data.
Ignore it and it will go away seems to be the thought process.
Unfortunately, that may be exactly what happens.  At this point, I don’t know WHAT it will take to get the public to sit up and realize the depth and breadth of the environmental scam that we are in the midst of.

Who Is the Best Scrooge Ever?

Dec 07, 2009 - 01:12 am

No doubt about it – it wouldn’t be Christmas without Dickens’s A Christmas Carol.  But the questions is who, in your opinion, is the ultimate Ebenezer Scrooge??
