SJR0127 – Why This Jumble of Numbers & Letters Spells Tennessee Turmoil

Feb 25, 2008

SJR0127 is a proposed Tennessee Constitutional amendment, passed by the state senate and currently before a subcommittee of the House Public Health and Family Assistance Committee.

I’m not sure why.  Perhaps instead of undergoing a House vote, it was a move to delay the controversy by shoving it into a committee and letting it flounder for awhile.

The legislation is about abortion.  But the following thoughts about this bill are not about abortion itself by rather the supposed logic expressed recently in opposition to the legislation.

I love a good argument.  And I am embarrassed by a bad one, even when it is someone else’s.

This is embarrassing:

It’s a Bird!  It’s a Plan!  It’s Superman!

Feb 25, 2008

It’s a scam!  It’s a rip-off!  It’s Superdelegate!

Faster than a speeding pollster!  More powerful than an ordinary delegate!  It’s Superdelegate to the rescue!

Or is it Superdelegate to the ruination?

Who the heck are these superdelegates we keep hearing about and why do THEY rate extra voting power?

Three Rants, One Congress

Feb 14, 2008

I am aghast and aggrieved that our Congress has embarked on a stupidity binge.
As Grandpa used to say, somebody has apparently hit those people with the Stupid Stick.

Repeatedly, would be my guess.

Am I missing something?  I don’t think so.

First our leaders decided to give away some money to the taxpayers at the expense of – you guessed it – the taxpayers.  Their hope is that we will spend it on – get this – domestic (American-made) goods.  (That according to Bernanke)

Attn. Democrats!  I Gotta Know…

Feb 07, 2008

With Hillary and Obama running neck and neck, Democrats are obviously split between the two candidates making this one heck of an interesting race.

Being a voting American, I have of course done some homework on both of these candidates and their positions on major issues.

Being a conservative, I am kind of at a loss as to why anyone would vote for EITHER of them.

But being a curious sort, I confess to wondering why a voter would choose one over the other - and that’s where I need your help.

If you are a Hillary supporter, what specifically is her advantage over Obama in your eyes.  And vice versa for Obama supporters.

Now mind you, I have no desire to know why I should vote for either of them over a conservative (assuming, that is, I were to find one.) So don’t bore me and other readers with anti-conservative blathering.  This is your chance to explain in a clear, concise and logical manner why one of these two Democrat candidates is better than the other.

Now go for it!!  ‘Cause I GOTTA know…
