You Can Get Anything You Want … at “Alison’s” Restaurant

Posted On:Sep 07, 2007

Just into town and hungry?  Spent all that money on gas to get here and now you need to find a bite to eat for less?  Right off I-81 Exit 14 on the south side of Abingdon, Alison’s Restaurant is your answer.

Alison’s offers lunch and dinner daily in an old-fashioned atmosphere reminiscent of the Bar-B-Burger, a classic drive-in that used to occupy the place.  Now, the burgers are no less spectacular, but Alison’s also offers an international variety of ethnic cuisine, seafood and good old home cooking.

But back to the most pressing issue here: Not only is Alison’s a mainstay for locals (it’s packed most days between 11 a.m. and 2 p.m.) but it’s perfect for those just passing through.  Fast, expedient service with a smile only heightens one’s astonishment after noting that the prices are comparable to a roadside grease pit.  Only at Alison’s the food is prepared healthy and delicious.  Modest portions are surprisingly filling, so you don’t need to be a championship eater to pack everything in, nor do you need to ask for seconds to quench that last lingering bit of hunger after the meal.  It’s the happy medium of dining.  And if you do find you have a sweet tooth by the end of the meal, it’s worth the few extra calories to try the cake or cobbler.

Alison’s is perfect for a quick lunch for one on the go, or a night out with family or friends.  You can choose a small private booth in the dining-car-style front room, or move onto the bug-screened patio for a larger table.

Among the items to die for on the menu are Alison’s renowned baked potato soup and rack of ribs, which have won multiple awards from the Washington County News.  Alison’s was also selected as Best Overall Restaurant in 2005.

Known as one of the best restaurants in Abingdon, Alison’s combines a casual-diner feel with friendly and attentive service, fantastic food and very reasonable prices.  Stop in and see why.
