Ma & Pa’s Restaurant Offers a True Taste of Americana
Posted On:Sep 07, 2007
Located along Lee Hwy. on the way into Abingdon from I-81 Exit 14, Ma & Pa’s looks exactly how one might imagine. There’s the red shutters, the umbrella-shaded tables, and the window-box full of flowers. Once you’re inside, not a whole lot changes. It’s just good old-fashioned barbecue.
Locally owned and operated by the Huff family since 2003, this particular café is one of two locations in the family, the original Ma & Pa’s in Castle Rock having opened in 1964 and still running today.
Their franchise now extended to Abingdon and offering visitors and locals the same homestyle treats as the previous generation. It’s the quintessential “burger joint,” offering hamburgers, hot dogs and barbecue, all of which have been recognized by the Washington County News. Don’t forget to complement your all-American meal with a hand-dipped ice cream cone or one of Ma & Pa’s other sweets.
For the most part, it’s a slip-in-order-and-slip-out type of place, with a drive-through window for your convenience. There are, however, a few places to sit inside, or an outdoor table if the weather is nice.
Ma & Pa’s is part of the exquisite small-town America charm that makes Abingdon special. It’s one of so many periods of American history still present today. Revisit a baby-boomer childhood or even just the lyrics of a favorite classic tune. Stop into Ma & Pa’s for the best in classic American cuisine at friendly prices.
