So what happens when a politically conservative over-40 woman sits back and watches a politically liberal over-40 woman with a microphone entertain?

She laughs her head off – THAT’S what happens!  I tuned in warily to Wanda Sykes’s comedy special on HBO – warily, because I know her politics are different from my own and I know how much she likes to talk about those politics.

I was prepared to watch a few minutes then tune out. 

I was NOT prepared to stay glued to the set for the whole 90 minutes – not to mention being wildly disappointed when it was over!  The woman is a scream, plain and simple – in a good way, mind you.

Yes, she talked about politics but not as much as I feared and not in a way that got me all up-in-arms.  Mostly she talked about life and love and being over 40, and honestly, I laughed ‘till I had tears running down my face – she was that funny, God love her.

Take the time – make the time – to check out the special.  If you do not have HBO, find someone who does.  You will be so glad you did.

In all honesty, I probably won’t watch her upcoming daily show on Fox – in that format, I daresay it WILL be too hard to designate politics to only a small portion of the show.  But when it comes to standup, you cannot go wrong with Wanda Sykes!
