I love making lists!
Feb 13, 2009 - 02:02 pmAny kind of list. Making lists makes me feel halfway organized, and even if I lose half of the ones I mean to keep, I still feel satisfied that I had the presence of mind and forethought to at least make the list in the first place.
I know that makes no sense. Work with me here.
Elizabeth Barrett Browning wrote How do I love thee, let me count the ways then she made a list. God said via Moses okay, this is how I want you to behave then He made a list. Its all about the list. LOVE lists.
I am going to start a list here that I cannot possibly do alone. Im going to need your help.
Valentines Schmalentines!
Feb 08, 2009 - 11:02 pmI swear I am not a cynical person. Really! If anything, I am more sentimental now than when I was younger, just in a different way. It is not love songs and roses that make me swoon anymore. I still swoon occasionally (only when there is a chair nearby), but now it is set off by things like a touch, a look, a memory shared. Okay, and occasionally a nice pair of biceps.
But Valentines Day? Please. Kids stuff. (Note that “kid” is definied as anyone under 40.)
Me and My Thyroid –
Feb 05, 2009 - 03:02 pmNow HERE’S an issue I hadn’t considered. We’ve been talking about weight loss
the last couple weeks and my doctor has recently added a new twist to the
scenario in the form of a possible thyroid issue.
Turns out a few members of my family on my mother’s side have thyroid problems
and, given my trouble taking weight off in spite of exercise and diet, doc
thinks that my own should be checked.
I did a little thyroid research and found that it is one of the largest
endocrine glands in the body. and it controls how quickly the body burns energy,
makes proteins, and how sensitive the body should be to other hormones.
In other words, as my doctor explained it, if my thyroid is hypoactive, I can
diet and exercise ‘til the cows come home and still not lose weight since my
metabolism stinks.
Honestly? My first reaction to this possibility was – Cool! It’s not my fault
I’m overweight! Yea! How sad is it that my first thought was excitement over
having something else to blame besides myself? Pretty sad. Normal, but sad.
TVs Take On Weight - Part 2 (or Why Are Dimply Thighs Only Cute if You’re 2?)
Jan 28, 2009 - 08:01 pmToday’s Lament: Why are chubby dimply thighs only cute if you’re under two? How unfair is that?
Okay, I saved the best for last, concerning tv’s take on weight. How do you NOT get inspired watching The Biggest Loser? I love this show. Okay, the last few seasons I watched the show while munching on late night calorie-laden fried somethings more often than not, but this year I’m trying to time an evening workout to coincide with the show on Tuesday nights. So far, so good.
