The “Duh File” and the “Huh?” File

Apr 30, 2009 - 04:04 pm

I have “duh” and “huh?” files on my computer and in them, I stash the oddities I come across that frankly confound me.

I bet you could make some entries, too, eh?  It seems that once I passed 40, along with a new and true appreciation for time came an intolerance for people and things that waste that time.  I don’t get mad or worked up about it – life’s too short for that.  I just put my hand up in a move that mirrors the Supremes singing “STOP! In the name of love…”.  Then I move on.

I do love to share them though.  And that is why I save them.

Here are my latest additions:

Wednesday April 22 – The Day American Idol Broke My Heart

Apr 22, 2009 - 09:04 pm

It had nothing to do with the contestants.  To be honest, I almost never watch the show.  But tonight I was working here at home and nothing else was on and I MUST have background noise in order to accomplish anything, so I turned it on.

Playing Footsie!

Apr 16, 2009 - 11:04 pm

At the risk of sounding typical,  I love shoes.  I especially love summer shoes.  Breaking them out every year about this time is my favorite spring ritual.  Granted I am not quite on a par with Carrie Bradshaw when it comes to shoe-love, but still - -

The problem is that my feet are not quite the soft, cute little angelic things they once were (my great-neices are pictured here is it wrong to be envious of a baby?  And by the way, how come chubby dimply thighs are cute on HER but…oh, never mind).

Pedicures take time and money, and while I have no problem with indulgences, I’d rather spend the cost of a few pedicures on a new pair of shoes.

So break out the clippers and files and sanders and such -  I will do what I must in order to show off my summer shoes.  I have, however, found a great shortcut.

The Bathing Suit Perspective

Apr 16, 2009 - 10:04 am

Ah, swimsuit season approacheth.  A chance to flaunt our imperfections and display our physical flaws.  Oh, goody.

When I was younger, I spent alot of time worrying about what other people might think when presented with the vision of me in a bathing suit.  Now, not so much.  Funny how that works out.  When I was younger and firmer I fretted more about my appearance than I do now, when - thanks to gravity and too many non-diet sodas - I probably have more to fret over.

This is what is wonderful about passing 40.  You get perspective.
