Gomer Pyle, USMC had a very successful five year run from 1964 to 1969. Of course, Jim Nabors played the laughable but lovable Private First Class, Gomer Pyle. But, awhile back, I got a chance to sit down with a couple of the co-stars of the show.

Thanks for posting this Tim. I watch the show about every day from my DVD sets. It’s such a good show and it’s a shame it’s not being syndicated. However, season four is scheduled to be on DVD in May/08’.

Tim,

Thanks for posting this on the web.  I sure wish that someone would organize a show similar to The Andy Griffith Rerun Watchers Show or Mayberry shows that were held at the Meadowview Convention Center.  I went to both shows and they were great.  The race track had the Dukesfest shows they also were of great success.  However, I didn’t get to attend those.  It was such a great opportunity to meet some of the stars affilaited with the shows including Duke, Bunny, Ernest T. and others.  Check with the station about getting a show of that sort held in the area.  I am sure that Food City would help with this also.  Thanks for the great segments you do.

Darrell, thanks for your comments. I sure remember those shows at Meadowview fondly! Maybe at some point, someone will step up to the plate and organize another reunion show. Two of the big thrills in my life: shaking hands and meeting Don Knotts and Andy Griffith! I enjoyed talking with Ronnie Schell and Barbara Stuart! I guess you could say I’m an old sitcom junkie! Thanks. Tim Cable
